Although Kendal Mint Cake has nothing to do with motorcycle exhausts, Fuel thought it would be a nice touch to make you remember whereabouts in the UK your exhaust came from. Here at Fuel Exhausts, we have become well known for supplying a bar of Kendal Mint Cake in with every motorbike exhaust purchased. Customers love the fact that you get a 'sweet' in with your motorbike exhaust as it gives them something to chew on whilst fitting their new toy! If you are interested the legend behind the Mint Cake tale is that a Kendal confectioner, whilst making glacier mints, looked away from his mixture in the pan for one minute and then, continuing with his task, realised that the mixture had started to 'grain' and become cloudy, instead of clear. When he poured it out, the result was Mint Cake. Despite various manufacturers claiming to be the ones who discovered Mint Cake, it was actually Joseph Wiper who did so. He started a closely-guarded production at his tiny factory in Kendal in 1869. The Kendal Mint Cake was primarily sold to local people and due to its success the product was sent weekly via Kendal's Railway Station to other parts in the North East of England.

In 1910 Joseph Wiper retired to live in Canada where one of his sons opened a shop selling Wiper's Mint Cake. The Kendal Mint Cake business was left to his great nephew Robert Wiper. It was Robert who understood the potential of Kendal Mint Cake as an energy supplier and who supplied the 1914-1917 Transarctic Expedition and the 1st Everest Expedition. These two expeditions gave Mint Cake a whole new image and has made it even more famous around the country.
