What is the decibel rating of my exhaust?

It varies between bike models. Our road legal exhausts are manufactured to remain under the UK road legal limit when the baffle is fitted. With the baffle removed it will be louder. Where possible, there are noise ratings on the exhaust option page for your bike model. The basic theory is the smaller and / or shorter the exhaust, the louder it will be. Please note that packing material will wear out over time and your exhaust will get louder.

What type of sealant do I use when fitting?

You can use everyday bathroom and shower sealant as long as it is silicone based. Just use it sparingly around the inlet of the end can and also inside the pipe which mates up with the OEM system. We also stock Wurth silicone sealant which you can add to your order if you prefer.

Do I need to get my Fuel exhaust repacked?

Yes regular repacking is recommended. You must get your Fuel Exhaust repacked by us to maintain your warranty.

We recommend a repack around every 2 years or 12k miles, whichever comes first.

Exhausts get louder as the packing material wears out so it will become noticeable.

Will I need to change the exhaust for an M.O.T?

If you have purchased a UK road legal exhaust then providing the baffle is left in the exhaust you should have no problems with an M.O.T. There are exceptions to this rule, eg. Yamaha MT-10 which is road legal with the baffle in or out.

If you have purchased an exhaust from our race range, then there is no guarantee that this will pass an M.O.T although it is now down to the M.O.T testers discretion. There are a few bikes which are still road legal with the F1R Race fitted and this is detailed on the appropriate bike page. Most F1R Race exhausts are not road legal and are stamped with NOT FOR ROAD USE and will fail an M.O.T.

Is the dB killer / baffle easy to remove?

Yes, the bolt can be removed easily using an allen key on all our exhaust ranges. Occasionally users drop the baffle bolt inside the carbon outlet on the Diablo exhaust. The Diablo range uses a zinc plated bolt and it can be traced out to the hole using a magnet.

Are these exhausts road legal?

If you have purchased a UK road legal exhaust then yes, it is UK road legal when the baffle remains in place. The British Standard reference for road use is stamped accordingly on each exhaust. They are not road legal outside of the UK.

If you have purchased the F1R Race exhaust, unless specified otherwise on the page, it is not road legal and will be stamped indelibly with NOT FOR ROAD USE.
