Brushed Stainless Exhausts

Fuel Exhaust Finishes - Brushed Stainless

Posted in Fuel News

If you have been researching our products, as we know many potential customers do, then you will probably be aware that we manufacture our motorcycle exhaust products in house at our workshop in Kendal, Cumbria.

We have a variety of different exhaust silencer body options and this blog will cover the details of BRUSHED STAINLESS. Read on to learn more...

As one of our most popular finishes for a large selection of different motorcycle models, the brushed stainless exhaust body is a highly durable 304 grade stainless steel tube with a grainy appearance. As it is 304 grade stainless steel, this finish will not rust.

To achieve the brushed stainless finish, raw sheet material is processed on an industrial polishing belt or wheel. The grit grade of the brush depends on the final finish required. The direction of the grain on the material varies however we always ensure the grain flow is the same on all our stainless blanks to retain consistency on the exhausts. Brushed stainless is not very shiny or reflective like its polished counterpart but it does have a smooth surface finish and as the brushed finish is grainy, it also tends to hide small surface scratches well.

Following the brushing process, the stainless steel blanks are sheared from a large sheet and cut to our very specific size, with a tolerance of +/- 0.26mm to ensure a perfect fit with our end caps.

We roll and weld our brushed stainless sleeves in house on our seam welder. You can learn more about this process here.

Aftercare of brushed stainless is the same process as recommended for all our metal body exhaust finishes...

  • Wipe over the surface using a clean cloth damped with warm soapy water and remove any road film.
  • Using another clean cloth, dab some white spirit / evaporating thinners onto the cloth and wipe over the exhaust again. Ensure you do not touch the Fuel label at any point or the colours on the logo will smear due to the chemicals in the thinners.

This is the easiest and best way to clean your exhaust.

Our brushed stainless exhaust options start from £174.99.
